Chris Hughton is in no hurry to get all his signings done ahead of Brighton’s first game in the Premiership which happens to be against the Sky Blues.
It’s the first time that Brighton is going to feature in the English top tier and Hughton is feeling the need to enhance his squad so that it proves to be competitive through the season against the big boys.
Also as per the rules of the Premiership, each of the clubs need to submit their squads till 31st of August which is the closing date of the transfer window and the squads can’t be short of 25 players.
So that’s another reason why Brighton needs to make some new additions to the squad soon, but, Hughton is not getting desperate about the situation and is calm and composed.
He has been around for long enough to understand that patience is the key in transfer matters and one should never try to rush the signings.
As per Hughton, it’s been the case every season that a lot of transfer activities take place towards the end of the window and it’s only around that time that most of the deals get finalised.
So, as a coach, one must not press the panic button too early and keep pushing for the player whom he is willing to have in the squad rather than giving up on that player and signing someone else instead who was not his preferred choice.
If the deal is not getting finalised as quickly as you had expected it to, you just have to remain patient because things happen quickly as the transfer window gets into its last few days.
Hughton has bought only two players for Brighton so far this summer.
