NO DIFFERENCE

The Brighton and Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has said that he does not expect Real Madrid to play very different after the addition of the Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric. The Spanish club Real Madrid are looking to seal a £ 30 million deal to bring the Croatian midfielder to the Santiago Bernabeu. Many believe that José Mourinho has identified Luka Modric as the missing link between Real Madrid winning the Champions League and not winning the Premier European competition. José Mourinho has already said that his main target will be to win the Champions League this season with the Spanish club.

The 26-year-old Luka Modric has been linked with almost every major club in the last few years. Chelsea came extremely close to grabbing his signature, but were ultimately denied the sale by the Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. However, Real Madrid are thought to be very close to securing his signature. They have finally persuaded the Tottenham chairman to drop his valuation of £ 40 million for the midfielder down to about £ 30 million. It is expected that Real Madrid will be paying £ 25 million up front with £ 5 million coming as performance related bonuses.

“Modric is a really good player, but he won’t change Real Madrid’s style at all. I want to see where will Mourinho play him. Alex Song is a real beast. He has presence and good technique. We have to see now which role would he play in Barcelona,” said the Brighton manager Gus Poyet. Gus Poyet managed to beat his former club Chelsea in a pre-season friendly match 3-1. The former Chelsea midfielder has said that he would ideally like to bring in a few more players before the end of the transfer window. Brighton started the Championship season with a defeat.
