Bury snatched the 3rd spot of the English League Two and earned their promotion spot into the English League One, David Flitcroft is preparing his team in this league by making a few switches and changes within his own squad and even though the summer transfer window still has not officially opened, a few players have already been signed.
Leon Clarke is an experienced forward who has played with a number of Championship League clubs and Bury managed to sign him after paying a fee in the region of €750,000.
DavidFlitcroft expressed his satisfaction in having signed Leon Clarke as the manager of Bury FC said: “I am delighted, as a manager/coach, to be working with Leon Clarke next season and beyond. The club, chairman and management team have been working tirelessly for three weeks to capture his signature.’’
“When we found out a player of his ability and quality was potentially available, we had to do all that we could to secure his services. He is pure pedigree and has incredible goal-scoring ability. He has the pace; power and intelligence to have a massive impact for us next season.”
Signing Leon Clarke will add more experience into Bury FC and this signing was a good decision by the club but there was something else that occurred which has shocked the supporters of Bury FC and it’s the departure of Nicky Adams.
Nicky Adams was added into the transfer list as David Flitcroft was interested in letting the 28 year old English midfielder leave the club which actually happened as he was signed by Northampton Town. What makes this surprising is that Nicky Adams played a huge role in Bury’s promotion to the English League One after making a total of 40 appearances in all competitions for Bury during the past season.
Craig Jones, Nathan Cameron, Kelvin Etuhu, Hallam Hope, Chris Hussey, Ryan Lowe, Danny Major, Keil O’Brien, Joe Riley, Danny Rose, Tom Soares, Nicky Adams and Andrew Tutte are all of the players that form part of David Flitcroft retention list as they were transfer listed and are looking to be sold but some have already been sold which is the case of Nicky Adams.
