BRIGHTON LOSE AFTER TWO OWN GOALS

Premier League prospective new boys – following their promotion from the Championship – suffered serious setbacks from being confirmed winners of the league as they crashed 2-0 in the hands of Norwich City.

The goals were stunning as they came off the back of goalkeeper David Stockdale. Both goals came through Alex Pritchard and each hit the woodwork then scored upon hitting the back of the keeper.

Ahead of the game, many expected the newly promoted side to get the victory and lift the Championship title, with games to spare, after a late surge saw them draw away from Newcastle United. The scorer of both goals coincidentally was a prospect for Brighton & Hove Albion before he changed his mind and signed for Norwich last year.

Brighton fans had booed the player as the game started but his actions soon silenced them. Both goals which were identical were scored in the 18th and 39th minute but Brighton could not come back into the duel.

The goals left Cristiano Ronaldo 7 Stockdale shaking his head in disbelief as he could do nothing to stop them. The team is still likely to lift the title as they are seven points ahead of the Magpies. Before they face Bristol City at home at the end of the month, they would have won the league if Newcastle lose any of their next two games.

Newcastle were expected to lift the league as they were neck above others weeks back but a string of poor results affected their run. However, they are set to make the Premier League next season – their major target as they slumped into the second tier of the English Football League at the end of last season.
